Philips Sonicare for Kids HX6311/02 Rechargeable Toothbrush Review – The Perfect Children’s Electric Toothbrush!
I actually bought these as Christmas presents for both my kids (aren’t I a thoughtful parent!), and they were surprisingly excited when they opened them up! They’re a very colorful with a child friendly design so they’re a lot more welcoming than a regular brush. The handle is ergonomically designed in such a way that a parent and child can brush together, or both separately, and while I think it achieves this, the handle is pretty large. My son just about manages.
Some of the things worth mentioning are the fact that the motor is definitely more gentle and quiet than adult versions. This makes the brush a lot less intimidating and daunting whilst still giving them the benefits of a good brush. It has a quadrapace timer much like the adult models which lets your child know every 30 seconds when to move on to the next quadrant of their mouth, only with this brush it plays a cute little tune every 30 seconds!
It also has different power settings depending on the age of the child, from age 4+ to age 7+, as well as age-appropriate brush heads. These features generally ensure that your child is getting the right level of cleaning for them, and it works well. One thing I would say about the power setting that can be altered, is that it’s perhaps a bit too easy to do so. Any curious child could flip the switch and end up using the wrong power setting, so bare that in mind.
Other than that, the only other downside in my opinion is the charger that comes supplied with the brush. It’s a bit of a let down to be honest compared with the standard of the brush, in that it’s just not constructed all that well. It’s not a deal breaker but something I’d definitely tell Philips to improve!
So here’s a summary of the Kids HX6311/02:
Pros:
- The novelty gets kids excited to use it
- Brush is quieter and more gentle than adult models
- Can alter power of brush to cater to your child
- Good for getting your child into good habits
Cons:
- Charger isn’t the best quality
- Power setting is easily changeable by a child
